Some of what I talk about in this episode might be a bit controversial, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot over Christmas
The short version is this: YouTube doesn’t really reward the type of content I make in a way that makes it financially sensible to keep producing it at the level I’d like. And I’m not interested in keeping the algorithm happy. That said, I’m not throwing the toys out of the pram. I’m just adjusting what I produce with some more time I have in 2026.
One of the things I’ve been doing is filming a new series of short videos called Bite-Size Workshop, which are quick, useful films covering specific topics and techniques. They’re much easier to produce, they’re genuinely helpful, and they fit the way people like to consume content these days without me having to compromise what I’m about. But half of them will need to be paid for.
Other than that, longer content I will be producing for YouTube will be more inspirational rather than instructional. I'm going to keep that for the school website.
