I have helped out countless application films for film school and I also looking into the process of applying for film schools. And in this video I have a few points to help you to create a more successful application film. Every film school has their own requirements, so it is important to read these requirements well and also to explore the grey area or loopholes in them to make your film better than others.
However one mistake that I often see if people thinkings that the maximum tips limit is a loophole they could work around, however it's much better to make a short film with in the maximum time frame. As often the longer short films feels too slow paced and boring and if 5 minuted in its a snooze fest, the committee won't want to want 20 minutes more of it, even if the most important part happens in the last 5 minutes. Its better to cut down your short film and make it more well paced and attract the committee to watch it from begin till end.
One important thing to do is to look for people who already have studied at the film school or are studying at the film school and ask them to see their application film, this gaves you a much better view on what quality of films are being accepted and learn to strive to something similar.
