Superdavo0001 | Timestoppa's TAS Competition 2017: Task 3 - My Run (36"77) @Superdavo0001 | Uploaded 7 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
Finally something that's not Releasio! :P
Task: "Load the savestate provided and start recording. Get to [the elevated platform which contains the BitS warp] as soon as possible. Timing starts on first frame your position differs from the position Mario has in the savestate, and ends when Mario is standing on the ground shown in the above picture. You may not BLJ"
Here's my entry for Task 3 of Timestoppa's TAS competition. It's either 4th or 5th place (waiting for official result), which isn't bad. Nice route, not so nice optimisation. It's certainly an interesting TAS!
The clip I used to get to the key door was a nightmare to execute - it took me forever to understand what was going on!
The ending was completely rushed - yes, I know I had dust frames - I used them to clip onto the final platform. Yes, I know I could've done it faster. Oh well - next time!
For anyone curious, I think the first clip to the key door is caused by Mario being prevented from moving into a small oob area (invis wall - caused by floor misalignment). The oob takes priority over the ceiling, so as long as Mario keeps trying to move into it, his lateral speed will keep being reset but he'll keep rising into it. I'll explain my theory in more detail later, and see if anyone can confirm it.
