Time - The Differences between Town and Country
I recorded a 90-minute interview with this man today, Terry Canavan from Drumgoold/The Shannon in Enniscorthy and I said I'd share just 90 seconds with you to show you how rich the content is.
Terry lived in the town but just on the borders of the countryside and he described how they'd head out hunting rabbits for food into the country and they'd meet a country men and they'd be on Old Time while they were on New Time. He ends the clip by saying that they'd also gauge the time when they'd see a rural labouring man in a field taking off his cap or stand silent as when they saw that, they knew — or guessed — it was midday and he had stopping for the Angelus.
