In this clip, Kevin Mernagh recalls the history of a local mineral water and crisps business. He is holding a label from a Coca-Cola bottle connected with the New Ross Mineral Water Company, which he says was founded by Jim Kehoe and Joe Kavanagh. The company was busy for a period before eventually being taken over by another drinks company.

Kevin also remembers that the same two businessmen operated a crisp factory on Prairie Lane, producing Nu Crisps. The crisps came with small sachets of salt, allowing customers to choose how much salt they wanted.

He recalls the factory operating during the 1960s, when the crisp bags featured promotional tokens that could be collected to obtain colourful biros. Kevin remembers enthusiastically collecting the tokens—and even picking up discarded crisp bags from the ground if they contained one. The clip highlights how innovative and entrepreneurial these local businesses were for their time.
