Ticket For A Doomsday Run is a time capsule of the 1998 severe weather season across the Great American Plains states through the lens of storm chaser and climatologist, William T. Reid. The active season centered around the deadly Spencer, South Dakota tornado on May 30 that Bill and chase partners Cheryl Chang, Martin Lisius and Keith Brown, Barry Nusz and others documented. Mixed in between are various other storm intercepts, memorable weather moments with 1970's and 1980's musical segues in the mix.
This is one of many storm chaser highlight videotapes Bill Reid and others produced on an annual basis when many chasers swapped tapes in the winter to see what had transpired beyond the quick clips on The Weather Channel. For storm chasers of the era these were produced, Bill's videos were some of the most enjoyable and introduced many to often obscure or distant musical tracks. The video title is a play on words from a 1981 Wall of Voodoo lyric from the song "This Way Out" written and preformed by Stan Ridgway.
