On May 20, 1957 a deadly tornado developed near Williamsburg, Kansas and tracked 71 miles northeast into the Kansas City suburbs. The community of Ruskin Heights, Missouri sustained the most significant impacts from tornado, with F5 damage noted in several areas. 59 people were killed and 341 injuries resulted. This tornado was one of 35 others confirmed from a widespread severe weather outbreak.
