It was my turn to choose in Tubers High Score Challenge....Our last 3 challenges have been console based which is a nice change from our usual arcade games, but for our next challenge we are venturing back to the arcades, for some shoot 'em up action in the form of Shienryu!
Shienryu was released in 1997 by Warashi on the Sega ST-V system, which was basically a Sega Saturn in a arcade cab. It ticks all the shmup boxes for me....there's no complicated scoring/bonus systems or weapon configurations to get yer head around, it has a nice learning curve with lots of action spread over it's 8 stages, plus some class gfx and 80's style synth music. Here's my attempt, I really wanted to get further in this game but alas it wasn't to be....
