On October 10, 2014 I rode AMTRAK #6, the California Zephyr, from Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Denver. This has often been called the most spectacular train ride in America. Well, I can't say -- haven't ridden them all -- but I don't know how you could cram more canyons, rivers, mountain peaks and spectacular vistas into one six hour trip. And all this while riding in comfort, with a cool drink in hand, maybe enjoying dinner in the diner, chatting with complete strangers, while someone else is doing the driving. Actually, I have made this trip several times going back to the 50's, and it never gets old. Maybe I'll do it again next soon. Oh, and you can't beat the price.
