If you wait long enough everything happens twice. In this video I send a zipped file attachment of 3 cats that don't exist in an HTML-formatted message with a displaying graphic logo. I set a schedule to do this once a day. Sound familiar? That's because I did all the work back in August. I'm really just transposing this scheduled system to a home cloud server.
Conceptually, things are nice. We run very equivalent LXD Linux containers in two different contexts. One is a low-power Windows 10 laptop and the other is on a home cloud NAS. That's Network Attached Storage, but they're so much more than that these days. NASes such as the one I'm using can play host to Linux containers. How cool is that?
Develop on your laptop and deploy to your home cloud! Or at least these are the first steps towards that vision. I leave it scheduled to email me 3 cats that don't exist every morning at 6:30 AM as a little reminder to myself to keep pushing this project forward. Meta, no? You need a 24x7 generic Linux server in your life that you don't have to pay cloud hosting for.
