A Common Thread-waisted Wasp (Ammophila procera) excavates a nest in the picnic area at Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge, in Colorado County, TX, USA. She scoops a little bit of dirt, flies off a meter or so, and dumps the dirt. Then she repeats. Every once in a while, she comes up with a stone that she can't lift in flight. So she drags it across the ground instead.
