A small Darkling Beetle (family Tenebrionidae, possibly Blapstinus fortis) wanders around on the ground at the visitor center at Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge, in Colorado County, TX, USA. Just before reaching a Dark Ricefield Mosquito (Psorophora columbiae) on the ground, the Beetle abruptly turns around. I wonder if the Beetle turns around because it notices the Mosquito? Or is that just a coincidence?
