Today I’m Metal detecting the beach in the south Laguna area, then ending the day at Corona Del Mar.. At first, I planned to just delete this video and not release it. Maybe that would be the right thing to do. But after more consideration, I decided I would just go ahead and publish it because I feel that it is important that people see the reality of Metal detecting. It’s not always loaded beaches, amazing finds, and beautiful surroundings. Sometimes it’s necessary to show the proverbial or even literal blood sweat and tears that goes into making this happen. Not to mention the unseen parts like looking for parking for 15-20 minutes at every beach, sometimes even havjng to pay. And other times walking blocks and blocks just to get to the sand, only to get skunked. I started Metal detecting on this channel with the intention of documenting my learning process. I think an important part of that learning process is also learning how to deal with the downsides of the hobby. It’s very easy to celebrate when everything‘s going good. But when you are continuously striking out it does start to take a mental toll on you. I’m still learning how to process these feelings of self-doubt, burnout both physical and mental, and the disappointment of an empty finds bag.
