Why does a controller start moving even when nobody is touching the analog stick?
Most standard joysticks use potentiometers with a metal wiper that moves across a resistive track. Wear, dust, debris, contamination, and mechanical fatigue can eventually change the controller’s neutral reading and cause stick drift.
Hall-effect and TMR sticks use magnetic sensing instead of a physical contact surface for position detection, but installation and calibration still matter.
Should magnetic sticks be standard in every controller?
