Already, this chick has tripled in size. Like most birds, flamingo chicks develop quickly and can be nearly adult height by three to six months.

This chicks straight beak has already started to curve. This shape helps to create swirls in the water, bringing food towards their beak when filter feeding.

While flamingos reach full adult size at about six months, their iconic pink colouring develops gradually over the first couple of years.
