GM just announced a new battery that could finally close the price gap between electric trucks and gas vehicles. Their new LMR battery uses 65% manganese and virtually no cobalt, replacing costly materials with cheaper, more abundant ones.

This innovation boosts energy density by 33%, reduces battery weight and parts, and delivers over 400 miles of range—all at the same cost. GM is planning full-scale production by 2028, aiming to make the Silverado EV cost the same as its gas-powered version.

This could be the moment electric trucks go fully mainstream.
