I expected the no-front-light Kindle Scribe to be the one I would recommend. On paper, it should have been exactly my sort of e-ink tablet: simple, clean, sharp, and closer to the surface.

So I put it next to the Viwoods AI Paper and the Boox Go 10.3 Gen 2 to see how it actually performed for small text, fine lines, zooming, manga, ghosting and image rendering.

The surprising bit? The Kindle Scribe actually wins several of the screen tests. It looks sharp, text is excellent, and image gradients are handled very well. But that still does not mean it is the one I would keep.
