This is the smart fork that stops slurps.

The Japanese love eating their noodles by slurping, but westerners can be offended by the sound. So noodle giant Nissin invented a noise-canceling fork. A built-in microphone detects the sound of a slurp, then sends sounds to a smartphone to disguise it.

The $130 fork is marketed as a way to bridge cultures and make Japan more tourist friendly. The idea is cute — but why can't we just let the Japanese enjoy their ramen soup in peace?
