The Mona Lisa gets a Botero twist.

Here, Sotheby’s Nick Deimel examines Fernando Botero’s 1958 rendition of the Mona Lisa, which anchors a special selling exhibition on view at #SothebysNewYork. In the late 1950s, Botero began a series of paintings that reimagined da Vinci’s iconic portrait. These works served as a starting point for the exploration of proportion and presence that would define his career.

‘Botero in New York’ is on view at the Breuer through 7 September.
