🌊 Can AI actually help forecast floods – and save lives?

Google Research Scientist Grey Nearing introduces Flood Hub – an open-access tool that uses artificial intelligence to forecast flood risks up to 7 days in advance. More than a model, it’s a system designed for impact, co-developed with governments, NGOs and UN partners.

💡 By training on global patterns of rainfall and river behaviour, the Google Flood Hub levels the playing field for countries with limited data.
📡 Alerts reach communities directly, reducing post-disaster costs. In Bihar, India, for example, medical costs after flooding were 30% less if communities received early warning.
🌍 Tools are freely available to national agencies – adaptable, scalable, and designed to serve people in every context.

This is AI for Good in action – driving equity, boosting early warning, and empowering local leadership. Risk is everyone’s business – and tech solutions, done right, can serve everyone.

Every day counts, act for resilience today.
