From 13–17 October 2025, the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) brought together 23 Member States and Dialogue Partners in Réunion Island to advance stronger, more inclusive, and more resilient disaster risk governance across the region. 🌊🌍

This regional workshop—supported by UNDRR—focused on strengthening risk assessment, early warning systems, coordination mechanisms, and regional cooperation to better protect communities from the increasing impacts of disasters and climate change.

Participants explored:
✔️ Strategies for resilient and inclusive governance
✔️ Multi-hazard early warning systems
✔️ Innovation and collaboration for risk reduction
✔️ Field visits to local disaster preparedness initiatives

By sharing knowledge and building partnerships, IORA is helping shape safer, more resilient communities across the Indian Ocean region.
