could we entertain the possibility that maybe, *just maybe*, its NOT your kids that are draining you. maybe what you need a break from is:
•not eating enough. in our diet culture, most women aren't eating enough calories to thrive. survive? Yes, but not have optimal energy, vitality or extra things like hair growth and good sleep. romanticize eating again. eat what sounds good. when it sounds good.
•living in a cluttered mess. studies show that clutter effects the female body by triggering cortisol and therefore creating an imbalance in our brains and hormones. gift yourself a break from the stress by declutterring your space and giving yourself a retreat to live in rather than a burden.
•too much on your schedule. classes, teams, carpools, meetups, the list nowadays of things you are expected to fill your schedule with to be a good parent and and get your child "ahead" for "all the opportunities" is unprecedented. kids are involved in more sports and groups than ever before and are still lonlier than ever before. maybe what we all need more of is depth and quality time together as a family.
•too much sad, heavy adult content. take inventory of what content you're exposing yourself to. what accounts do you follow? what topics do you discuss or listen to at meals or on podcasts? maybe your brain and nervous system needs a break from the burden of the world.
•buying / shopping on sale. when we stock up, we create so much work for ourselves inventorying our homes. we have to organize, clean, touch and see SO MUCH. are you willing to trade your time and peace for those 5 on sale tops you don't need? who knows what you're signing up for with that free rug on offer up. Just because it's on sale doesn't make it a good deal.
•noise pollution. after literal pollution, noise pollution is the #2 threat to human health. in ancient times, loud noises triggered a stress response in our bodies to fight or flee, and although our world has become modern our bodies haven't. gift yourself breaks from all the noise. and let your body rest + relax.
