In a lot of ways, the Ikelos SMG is BETTER than the Gnawing Hunger. It has a faster optimal time-to-kill and has some very strong possible perk combinations. It is also very capable of replacing The Recluse in PvE as the next PvE primary DPS weapon. The Ikelos SMG has been repurposed in Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals, through the Exodus and CQC Umbral Focused Engrams.
