Quick warning - the following is completely true.
There’s a pathogenic zombie fungus that infects female houseflies, and seduces male flies into mating with their undead corpses.
According to University of Copenhagen scientists, the fungus, called Entomophthora muscae, slowly eats infected flies alive from the inside.
When the fly is pretty much at death’s door, the fungus forces it to fly to the highest point around, and unleash powerful chemical signals that male insects can't resist.
Once the male flies carry out the macabre carnal act, they're infected as well, primed to spread the fungus further.
To make things worse, the study also showed that the longer a fly is dead, the stronger it becomes from increased buildup of seductively-fragranced fungal spores.
The scientists said that the viral fungi may have a practical application, but I say leave that shit alone…
