This Earth Day, let's go back to our roots: soil
Did you know that proper management of soil is one of our best chances to mitigate climate change?
Comprised of minerals, organic matter, air, water and living organisms, soil plays a key role in regulating, storing and filtering water. Soil also plays a pivotal role in storing carbon.
Together with Agoro Carbon Alliance, we recently met up with farmer, Rafael Calleja to see first hand how farmers are protecting their soil.
On his farm, Rafael has been utilizing conservation agriculture practices for the past 20 years which has resulted in increasing his yields, increasing organic matter in the soil and reducing run-offs.
These key practices have also resulted in sequestering more carbon, protecting biodiversity and ensuring productive soils. All crucial elements to helping us protect the planet and responsibly feed the world.
