What exactly is positronium?
Itās a short-lived system formed when an electron meets its antimatter counterpart: a positron.
Using Sodium-22 as a positron source, we can explore what happens when matter and antimatter interact. The positron can briefly pair with an electron to form positronium before the pair ultimately annihilates, converting their mass into energy.
And this isnāt just theoretical physics! The resulting 511 keV annihilation radiation can be observed directly in the gamma spectrum with Radiacode.
