Warner Bros spent over a decade trying to launch a remake of the classic 1960s spy series. When Guy Ritchie finally took the helm, he delivered one of the most stylish films of the decade, only for it to be crushed at the box office by Mission: Impossible and Spectre.
This is the story of a production defined by chaos and class. Tom Cruise was originally cast as Napoleon Solo, while Henry Cavill was set to play the Russian, Illya Kuryakin. The script was rewritten daily in Ritchie's living room, the actors performed their own dangerous stunts (leading to a near-drowning incident involving a weighted vest) and the director made the bold decision to cut the film's climactic siege into a one-minute montage.
