These make perfect little test tiles for new glaze combinations. They're a good demonstration of how a glaze will behave on a full sized piece, but they're small enough that I can fit a lot of them on a kiln shelf.

One aspect I didn't mention in the video is the step at the foot. This gives glazes a focal point to drip from. So if the glaze application is too thick and the glaze runs off the piece, it actually can't run all the way down the side and stick it to the kiln shelf, and will form a drip at that point instead. It also makes them very easy to dip in glaze, as there's essentially a built in handle!
