"Across Los Angeles, public art shapes how we move through the city and reflects who we are. Civic murals, monuments, and sculptures carry the stories of the people who live here, their meanings shifting across generations as communities change and reinterpret them. This Artbound Special examines two works born decades apart. The first is Eamon Ore-Giron's Infinite Landscapes: Los Angeles para siempre, a Metro LA commission that draws on the Art Deco legacy of the Wilshire corridor to transform the entrance pavilion of the La Brea D Line station. The second is The Triforium, Joseph Young's ambitious light-and-sound monument in downtown Los Angeles, an experiment so far ahead of its time that it has provoked debate since the day it was unveiled. Together, these works reveal how the meaning of public art is never fixed, evolving alongside the ever-changing city that surrounds it.
