Thermodynamics of rotating black hole clusters

Andrei Gruzinov, Yuri Levin ,Jiarong Zhu

We describe secular equilibria of stellar clusters near supermassive black holes using statistical physics. This is a powerful method that allows for new insights into the distribution of stellar mass black holes in galactic nuclei. We discuss phase transitions, black hole discs, and very eccentric orbits.
