Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of my favourite games of all time, so you can imagine how excited I was when its sequel, Batman: Arkham City got announced.
Bruce Wayne is incarcerated in the newly opened Arkham City, a mega prison comprising several city blocks that houses every inmate from Blackgate Prison and Arkham Asylum. Even worse, the Warden, one Hugo Strange, knows that Bruce is Batman and has threatened to tell this secret to the entire world if the Bat tries to stop him.
This sounds like it should be an amazing epic. How can Batman foil Strange's plan while facing off against the Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Clayface, Ra's al Ghul, Deadshot, Mad Hatter, Hush and Mr Freeze and somehow protecting his now compromised secret identity?
Sadly, while I do enjoy the game overall. It falls flat in a few key areas that prevent it from eclipsing the original. In this part of my Batman Arkham retrospective, I'll be taking a deep dive into the depths of Arkham City!
