Finding the right customer for a wastewater technology can be harder than developing the technology itself.
Martin Strøh, CTO and co-founder of Klarifi, calls his company's approach "Tinder for wastewater"—matching specialized treatment technologies with facilities that have the specific problems they are designed to solve.
A company targeting nutrient removal, for example, doesn't need a list of every wastewater plant in the country. It needs to identify the facilities struggling with nutrients, determine who makes purchasing decisions there, and reach those people.
Klarifi uses data to narrow that search, identifying potential customers by factors including geography, facility type, and treatment challenge. The platform can then manage outreach through LinkedIn, email, and phone so technology companies spend less time researching prospects and more time talking with facilities that could actually use their solutions.
It's an often overlooked obstacle to scaling water innovation: even a technology that works still has to find the people with the problem it solves.
