The yes/no question.
Sort of takes the power of decision out of your hands, and I’m a fan of you holding on to your power, steering your own course through the information tarot provides.
That said, the most straightforward way is to pose your question with one position representing yes, one no.
Then, the card you respond to most positively, that is your answer.
For example, if you did a yes/no regarding attending law school, and your yes position was the Hierophant and the no (or not going to law school) was for example the 10 of pentacles. If you attended, you would be entering a tradition, buying into a world view, a course of study.
If you didn’t you would have more money and might take the time to start a family or engage with your community.
Why I’m not a fan of this style is when I have done this, I tend to get a little push back. Sort of the tarot saying, girl, I’m not your mother. You need to decide. Tends toward a mushier reading.
Another way to approach it is a more involved spread I tend to use. A spread with 2 arms.
