When I was a kid, my brother and I used to watch Play School, the ABC’s taxpayer-funded, longest-running children’s series in Australian television history. I remember it being quite good. But as with all things nowadays, it’s turned woke, and I presume—as its target audience is children—it’s trying to teach (i.e., indoctrinate) your children about modern-day ‘wokery’.

If you hadn’t already realised, yes, the program has even featured a drag queen reading to your children.

For example, in this episode from May this year titled “When I Grow Up: Nature Nurturers,” you can see that the two hosts—one Aboriginal Australian and one Chinese-Australian—are with the Aboriginal doll, Dan, helping to clean up the waterways. It’s such a realistic situation.

Later in the episode, just before they read the story, they show the newly-revamped Rocket Clock, which appears to be some kind of rainbow-coloured totem pole.

And here’s the story (thank you to the viewers who sent this in) read by Adam Goodes.

You may remember him as a former AFL footballer playing for the Sydney Swans. He was famously racially abused by a 13-year-old girl calling him an “ape,” at which point, Goodes pointed the girl out to security, who promptly ejected her from the stadium. Take that, little girl! Surprisingly, over the following years, Goodes was repeatedly and loudly booed by opposition fans at many matches.

You may also remember him as the face of Qantas in 2023 supporting the ‘Yes’ vote in the Indigenous Voice referendum. This constitutional change was ultimately defeated, with the ‘No’ vote winning both the national majority and the majority in every state.

But back to the Play School story titled, “Walk With Us: Welcome to Our Country.” Surprise, surprise, it’s written by a one Adam Goodes! It starts off with a mother and her son at the dinner table, and just when you think they’re about to say grace before their meal, the boy says, “We acknowledge and respect the Cammeraygal people, the traditional custodians of the land we are on, and we pay our respects to their elders.” You know, a completely normal thing for a child to say before eating.

Then the mother replies, “Wow, that was beautiful! Where did you learn that?” To which he replies, “At school!” And then Mum says, “We didn’t learn to acknowledge country when I was little. Can you teach me?” I swear, I’m not making any of this up. The ABC published Mr. Goodes reading this obvious propaganda in all its glory on YouTube. But don’t expect to be able to leave any comments. As usual with our taxpayer-funded broadcaster, comments are not allowed!

Back to our book. The next scene shows the kid in the bath. The book reads: “Harvey sings his favourite song ‘Barabula,’ finishing with a big splash.” Personally, I’ve never heard of that song, but I’m sure it’s the favourite bath time song of many young Australian children.

The next day, Harvey and his mum go to their favourite park. A man in a hat—an Aboriginal elder named Uncle Boris—says, “Budgery Gamarua, everyone! My name is Uncle Boris.” And then he asks, “Who’s ready to walk with us on Cammeraygal land?” They’re really rubbing in whose land it is, aren’t they?

They walk to a clearing and Uncle Boris initiates what you might call some kind of pagan ritual, saying, “Time to awaken the ancestors. Every time we sing or acknowledge Country, the ancestors are listening.” And then he starts singing in language. Miraculously, the sun comes out, shining on Harvey’s skin and giving him goosebumps. Uncle Boris comments, “It seems the ancestors are happy we’re here.”

Uncle Boris leads them to a waterfall and says, “Our people have always known where to find water.” Not your people, our people!

Of course, they make some veiled commentary on British colonisation and the arrival of the First Fleet, who renamed everything. The group end up happily sitting down at the end of the day, talking about how good they feel. Uncle Boris imparts one more piece of pagan wisdom on young Harvey, saying, “Don’t ever stop singing, young fella. The ancestors love it!”

And then, finally, later that night when Harvey is in bed, he tells his mum, “I loved our walk today, Mum.” And then, in one final assertion that Christianity is no more in Australia and that Aboriginal spirituality is the new norm, she says, “I think the ancestors loved it, too.”

And that’s how our ABC attempts to indoctrinate our children in real time.
