The fall of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya was nothing short of a Hollywood blockbuster. Gaddafi, who ruled Libya for over 40 years, was known for dictatorial and harsh tactics. His downfall, however, came at the hands of his own people, who were fed up with his oppressive regime.
During the Arab Spring of 2011, widespread protests against Gaddafi's rule put the dictator in the firing line. Civil war ensued, and the opposition to Gaddafi became known as the National Transitional Council (NTC). NATO quickly intervened with the NTC, and Gaddafi fled. By October 2011, Gaddafi had been captured and killed by NTC fighters, and his bloodied body was dragged through the streets for all to see.
