This is the continuation of the James Webb Space Telescope’s journey to space! The telescope safely arrived in French Guiana and was unloaded from the MN Colibri, the ship that transported it from California. Next, it was driven a short distance to the Guiana Space Center.

![Exoplanet PSR J2322-2650b Orbiting a Pulsar
This animation shows an exotic exoplanet orbiting a distant pulsar, or rapidly rotating neutron star with radio pulses. The planet, which orbits about 1 million miles away from the pulsar, is stretched into a lemon shape by the pulsar’s strong gravitational tides. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope found that the planet’s atmospheric composition defies explanation. They detected molecular carbon, specifically C3 and C2, which would only be expected if there were almost no oxygen or nitrogen.
The pulsar’s characteristic radio beams wobble or precess as the pulsar spins because they are angled about 30 degrees from the pulsar’s spin axis. This animation is not to scale. The pulsar spins almost 300 times per second, while the planet orbits once every 7.8 hours.

![Social Media Short: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Completes Testing
Engineering teams have completed the James Webb Space Telescope’s long-spanning comprehensive testing regimen at Northrop Grumman’s facilities. Webb’s many tests and checkpoints were designed to ensure that the world’s most complex space science observatory will operate as designed once in space. Now that observatory testing has concluded, shipment operations have begun. This includes all the necessary steps to prepare Webb for a safe journey through the Panama Canal to its launch location in Kourou, French Guiana, on the northeastern coast of South America.

Far and Wide: Roman and Webbs Overlapping Roles in Understanding Our Universe Part 1: Differences
The James Webb Space Telescope, which is actively observing the universe from a million miles away, and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, set to launch in 2026, are NASAs two latest flagship astrophysics observatories. Although both are studying myriad cosmic objects to answer fundamental questions about our universe, they have very different designs and capabilities. The universe is such a vast and complex place that it takes many telescopes with different abilities to thoroughly study it. This four-part video series explores the differences and synergies of Roman and Webb.
Webb’s giant mirror, ultracold instruments and infrared vision help it observe the farthest observable reaches of the cosmos. Using its narrow field of view, it can measure distant galaxies and planets outside our solar system with unprecedented detail.
Roman has a large field of view and will capture giant, 300-megapixel images, enabling it to survey the sky 1,000 times faster than Hubble can while maintaining resolution similar to the Hubble Space Telescope’s. Roman will also observe regions repeatedly over time, allowing astronomers to see changes and detect transient events like exploding stars and the movement of planets near the center of our galaxy.
