In Costa Rica, something is wrong. Several sloths in captivity are dying — with no apparent symptoms, no warning signs, and no obvious cause. The animals aren't old or sick by nature's standards: sloths can live up to 30 years, yet these are dying before they even reach six months.
Stranger still, only one subspecies seems affected — the three-fingered sloth. Why this species and not the others? Is this an isolated case, or the beginning of something far more dangerous?
Veterinarian Norin Chai is called in to crack the case. With no clear symptoms to guide him, he must work like a detective, piecing together clues, ruling out possibilities, and following the evidence wherever it leads — before more lives are lost.
