This screen-matched fossil appears in the opening scene of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993), where it is held up to the light during the excavation at the Mano de Dios amber mine. That image would go on to become one of the defining symbols of Jurassic Park itself, representing the breakthrough that made John Hammond’s impossible dream a reality - dinosaur DNA preserved in prehistoric mosquitoes.
