ECCHR supports German human rights due diligence law initiative – In 2012, 258 people died in an Ali Enterprises textile factory fire in Pakistan. The German clothing retailer KiK failed to ensure that its supplier adhered to fire safety regulations. On the 7th anniversary of the fire, 64 NGOs, including ECCHR, are calling for a new due diligence law. German companies should be mandated to conduct human rights and environmental due diligence in their supply chains when operating worldwide.
