Now that Steam Audio has been introduced in Escape from Tarkov in the latest 12.6 patch, I wanted to explain what that means for the game, what Steam Audio is, how it works, and also give some really important context and history as to Tarkov's audio system and where its been and where its going. The first iteration of steam audio introduces HRTF, which by itself is a fantastic addition to the game, but doesn't completely fix most of the sound issues that has plagued game for so long. Those issues are inherent to tarkov's current audio system, which is really just a temporary
implementation anyway, and will eventually be replaced by more functionality from Steam Audio, making it even more accurate, consistent, and immersive. I hope you enjoy!
