Let’s make the Ultimate Rum Old Fashioned. At least according to the folks at Punch, who a couple of years ago did a taste test of 10 different rum old fashioneds from bartenders around the country. The winning entry was Jelani Johnson, who's bartended at places like Gage & Tollner.

Recipe:

1 1/2 ounces Barbados rum, (Mount Gay XO)

1/2 ounce Overproof Guyanese rum (Hamilton 151-proof)

1 teaspoon Aged Overproof Jamaican rum (Smith & Cross)

1 teaspoon rich cane syrup (2:1, cane sugar:water)

1 dash Angostura bitters

1 dash Bittermens Elemakule Tiki bitters

1 orange twist

Garnish: lime coin
