On the subject of hell, some teach that unbelievers will be tormented in a Lake of Fire for all eternity, whilst others that after judgment, unbelievers will eventually cease to exist. The former argue that if souls cease to exist there is no punishment for sins, that if people don’t fear hell they will not wish to become Christians, and that Jesus died only to save us from hell.
Does this emphasis accurately portray the character of God revealed in Christ, or a God which says, ‘I demand that you love and obey me or I’ll burn and torment you for all eternity’?
In this video I argue that this approach defames the character of God, dilutes the sacrifice of Christ and contradicts the very purpose of creation.
