Everyone hears the headlines when it gets cold in Florida: “Frozen iguanas falling from the sky.”
In this video, I head out on the canal to show what really happens to iguanas during cold weather. Cold iguanas aren’t dead, they’re cold-stunned, and once the sun comes up, they warm up and move right back into the trees and water.
While managing invasive iguanas, I also put my young dogs, Uzi and Blu, to the test. At just six months old, they ran their first hunt on their own and absolutely blew me away. Not every hunt goes perfectly, but this is the real side of iguana removal, dog training, and invasive species management in Florida.
