Audio engineer REACTS to 'The truth about audio plugins' | Is this the worst audio video on youtube?
This video perpetuating the idea that all analog gear is better than digital plugins (youtu.be/OoTpnjsAGXw) has been doing the rounds on a lot of audio forums and I felt that I had to address a lot of the purposeful inaccuracies and narrow minded views and opinions voiced by this mixing engineer of 15 years. As a youtuber with an audio channel based around testing hardware vs plugins in an objective manner I think its important that topics surrounding the analog vs digital debate is discussed objectively so beginner music producers and audio engineers at the start of their audio journey have all of the facts delivered in a subjective medium so there is no bias to be distracted with.
The original video discusses waves l2 ultramaximiser, waves audio plugins, universal audio plugins, why he believes plugins cant replicate analog circuitry, as well as lengthy discussion into phase and how it affects the stereo image.
I am giving my opinions and reflections on each point made as there are many points I feel are very one sided. There is no talk of other plugin developers ie acustica audio plugins (convolution sampling), plugin alliance, fabfilter, noiseash, slate digital etc)
