Almost 2,000 years ago, the ancient city of Pompeii was decimated by the eruption of Vesuvius – a volcano that released 100,000 times the thermal energy of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Much of the city was destroyed and many of its residents killed, but what remains tells us there is much more to the story of how some Romans survived.
In Pompeii: Out Of Time with Tom Hiddleston, archaeologists present the evidence that can teach us about the lives of ancient people, as well as how they met their deaths. It follows the human stories of victims and survivors, including a bathhouse owner who appears to have been preparing for disaster.
