Government figures show that around £4 billion was spent on asylum support, with more than 100,000 people receiving support and tens of thousands accommodated across roughly 200 hotels.
In this video, I break down the figures, look at the cost of hotel accommodation, and put the numbers into terms that are much easier to understand.
One calculation produces an eye-catching figure of around £53,000 per year, or roughly £145 per day, for each person accommodated in asylum hotels.
