In 2018, the figure shown here was just 7 people per boat. By 2026, it has risen to around 72 per boat, with individual crossings reportedly carrying considerably more. One recent boat carried 165 people.
In this video, I break down the numbers year by year, show how quickly the average has increased, and put those huge passenger numbers into perspective visually.
