Countdown to Extinction is a dark-ride attraction that opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22nd, 1998, and closed on May 1st, 2000. The attractions features a turbulent journey through the Cretaceous period, featuring scenes populated with dinosaur animatronics. In this video we take a look at the history of Animal Kingdom, the reasons why Dinoland was built over the Beastly Kingdom, the history of the attractions, its eventual change to the Disney movie Dinosaur to promote the animated film of the same name, and the attractions’ future.
