The purpose of this video is to demonstrate how highway agencies can use the systemic approach to identify potential risks on their roadway networks in much the same way that a doctor might use health history and medical tests to identify health risks for their patients. The systemic approach encourages agencies to implement countermeasures where similar roadway features exist rather than waiting for a crash problem to develop. The systemic approach is preventative medicine for roads.
