"The Substance" is a 2024 satirical body horror film that follows Elisabeth Sparkle, a once-celebrated actress and fitness guru who, upon turning 50, faces the harsh realities of aging in Hollywood when she's fired from her TV show. Desperate to reclaim her youth and career, Elisabeth turns to a mysterious black-market drug known as "The Substance." This drug promises to create a younger, more perfect version of herself, which manifests as Sue, and things take a turn for the horrifying when Sue realizes her fame is more important than the balance keeping them both alive.
